CRU's
Postgraduate Research School
in Reproductive Biology
Welcome to the CRU
Postgraduate Research School in Reproductive Biology. We organize
seminars, workshops and courses for postgraduate students, their
supervisors and others who might be interested. CRU-members are invited
to contact CRU to give suggestions about these events.
Comparative aspects between different species are of principal interest
throughout most of our activities.
Our program is open to anybody who is interested to join. It is possible
to enrol whenever you like.

Lunch seminars,
workshops,
courses
and other
activities.
Lunch seminars
The
seminars are given on a monthly basis, preferably by PhD students during
their last year. The idea is to give PhD students an opportunity to
present and discuss their research with an interested audience, and to
offer the CRU members opportunities to update on and discuss current
research. The topic should be reproductive biology in a broad sense. The
speaker is supposed to send a short abstract (½-1 page) to CRU a week
before the seminar. The abstract will be available at the CRU website.
The seminars
are free of charge.
Format
for lunch seminars:
12-12.15: Sandwiches and soft drinks supplied by CRU.
12.15: The speaker is introduced by the moderator (often the main
supervisor). The speaker gives her/his presentation (30 min.)
12.45-13.00: Questions and discussion.
The
attendance of at least 80% of the CRU lunch seminars during one calendar
year will render the attendant one ECTS. To have a CRU lunch seminar
will render the lecturer one ECTS.
For
more information
about upcoming
seminars, please check CRU’s
calendar).
Workshops
They are
usually given as half day programs 3-4 times per year. There is usually
an initial lecture concerning the theoretical basis and then a number of
short talks by users of the technique or whatever is the topic. The
selection of topics is based on suggestions from the CRU
Scientific
Committee
or from CRU members. Selected topics usually deal with different kinds
of laboratory techniques and they are held on a practical basis. There
is, however, usually no “hands on”. The
workshops
are free of charge.
Attendance usually gives 0.2 ECTS.

Courses
PhD-courses are usually given once or twice a year. The topic differs
from course to course and they are based on suggestions from the CRU
Scientific
Committee
or from CRU members. Comparative aspects between different species such
as humans, domestic animals, laboratory animals as well as wild animals
are of principal interest throughout our courses.
Attendance usually gives 2-3 ECTS.

Seminars
and other activities
There are several seminars, symposia and other types of meetings that are either
organized by CRU or announced via CRU's
mailing list that also might be of interest to PhD-students and others.
See CRU's
